I MAY BE EXCITED ABOUT THIS CAMERA THING +Fire. 
First official "best" first photos taken with the Canon!

















PS, half of our area of Florida seems to be on fire. Awesome. There's smoke billowing in the distance from our backyard. It's close, but not close enough for me to feel too panicky.

I asked Shawn's father, "Should be worry about packing up, or starting too? Just in case?" And he's like, "Yeah, when they knock on the door and tell us we gotta go."

Okay.

I guess the good thing is, if things turn really ugly--I can totally take some awesome shots of it.

(In the long run, homes, computers, clothes, and belongings are not as awesome as not being burned to death.)

Dude, been there, done that. Usually, when there's a fire within around twenty miles or we're in the path, we get the pet carriers out and have them ready. Then stuff the fire safe and photo albums in the cars just for giggles. Finally, when we get the call to evacuate, I unplug the computer, pack the animals and kid, grab anything else that'll fit, and hit the road. It's fun!

So I'd pull out the pet carriers just in case (unless your cats are the sort to vanish on seeing the carriers, in which case, put the carriers in the car, or make sure they're where you last put them. =-D) Good luck!

Doing alright so far. The smoke that was billowing in the distance in our backyard has stopped this morning. So here's to hoping!

I thought you were in Australia! Where you at in Florida? I'm just outside of Gainesville, but I grew up in Tampa. The fires are near Orlando, right?

We're about an hour and a half to two hours from Orlando. Brevard County/Palm Bay.
